About Us - A History of Leaders
George Leader first established this family business in 1900, selling anything from old cloth to waste paper. During the Second World War, the business at Lower Gosford Street was run by Albert, one of George's three sons, but a fire forced him to acquire new premises at Fleetham Place.
Albert's sons, Peter and Albert, carried on the family tradition and saw the business flourish through the sixties, selling paper, polythene and packaging. In 1973 they moved to the existing warehouse in Stockton Street where Leaders still remains. Run by Peter's son Mark and his family, the business is now in its fourth generation of the family and is at the forefront of the industry.
